Up First: The “Community on Obesity Prevention”Posted: March 5, 2013
To kick off the new AAFCS blog, we’re sharing a message from AAFCS Community on Obesity Prevention Chair Ingrid Richard Adams. This Community is introducing a great way to lead by example—participating in a campaign for lifestyle change and improvement. Please read below to learn more!
The Community on Obesity Prevention, an outgrowth of the “Taking It to the Streets” Initiative, would like to encourage all AAFCS members to join us in the Wellness Campaign: “Healthy Lifestyles – AAFCS Leading by Example.” This three- month campaign is planned for January 5 through April 5, 2013. During this time period, we encourage you to do the following:
- Engage in physical activity – 30 minutes on five or more days of the week.
- Choose nutritious foods each day based on the USDA MyPlate guidelines.
Before you begin the Campaign, please take the Pretest Survey:
The survey is important in providing baseline measures and requires about ten minutes to complete.
At the end of the Campaign, we will send you another link for the Posttest Survey. The information we obtain will help us to determine changes that occurred as a result of the Campaign. We plan to analyze the data in April and May and will report findings at the AAFCS Annual Conference in June in Houston, Texas.
I wish all members health and prosperity in 2013!
Ingrid Richards Adams
